So I've been freelancing at Oddbot on a musical Disney Junior show as a storyboard artist! I love it!

As some of you know, over a week ago was my last day at WBA on Bugs Bunny Builders. I have a lot of positive things to say about that experience (was there for almost two years!) but I'll save it for another post. Just know that my team was the best I've ever had and I wish I could've stayed forever!

That said: YES I, too, am looking for full time storyboard or revisionist work, like many others! At the same time I'm really enjoying having a mini break right now and spending more time with my family. 💜

I'll make an official post for that soon but for now... if anyone's looking to hire, please keep me in mind!

Mark and I are expecting our first child and we couldn't be HAPPIER. The due date is May 26th! Spring beebeeeee! 🐝🐝🐝🌷

I could say a lot about this journey and my feelings, and about how much it all means to me (some of you know very well) but all I'll say for now is that I understand too, TOO well the struggles of even considering this huge step in life in these chaotic times. My very first Storyboard Artist credit has finally aired after two years!! AND IT'S A FOLKLÓRICO EPISODE 💖💃✨

It was a complete dream come true boarding this for PBS Kids, too! 😭 Omg I have so much to say about this experience...

This was back when I was on Let's Go Luna! at Joe Murray Studio. When I started there in early 2019 I pitched a folklórico themed episode in México City and was absolutely thrilled when Joe Murray and @peterhannanland approved of it, and soon after my friend and show PC/writer, @luccygabriela, got to work on it. She sat with me as we talked about what ballet folklórico meant to me and how I was inspired to dance it after years of listening to my mom talk about doing in her childhood. She even threw in a Spice Girls reference (Chicas Picantes) which I grew up listening to, and overall wrote a great, heartfelt story for Carmen Mariposa and her mom.

Joe designed the axolotl after Amalia Hernandez who pioneered folklórico and then designed the cat trio, the Chicas Picantes (who I named Puya, Morita, and Habanera after native Mexican peppers lol 🌶️). I worked with Educational Consultant @erikmessal to ensure authenticity by providing music/outfit/prop references and by connecting with folklórico professionals. @ksilvaanimation provided so much feedback and support as our amazing Storyboard Supervisor and guided me and my board partner @woahkathyjo in that short 3-week turnaround. I had a blast boarding alongside Kathy Jo for this episode! @kermitincognito also killed it during this time as she was taking over my old job as PC. Couldn't have done it without all these amazing people and the whole @brownbagfilms team in Canada!

Forever Folklórico is a love letter to not only folklórico, the Spice Girls, and cats--it's also a love letter to my mom for encouraging me to dance and for being a big inspiration in my life. 💖

This started out as a rough sketch that wasn't going to see the light of day like most of my sketches, but then I started to see myself in her. I dressed like a basic little Mexican girl as a kid but ohhh how I wish I could layer up and see snow (which I didn't end up seeing until my late teens). Maybe I'll draw the way I actually dressed next. I had longer hair than this and I always loved reading books, so at least that part is accurate.😅

Wanted to play with completely random shapes, ballpoint pen and highlighter. It was a fun, challenging exercise because I gave the shapes no thought and the ballpoint pen forced me to commit to strokes.

The girl that's huddled over should date the huddled guy I drew a few years ago in the same exercise (posted on ig).

The sexy E.T. was the ONLY THING I could think of when looking at that shape I'm sort of sorry

I don't remember if I announced it on ig but about two weeks ago we adopted a kitten. His name is Lupin! 💕

He's a little rambunctious but very sweet. We recently introduced him to his big brother Iroh, who is tryyying to get used to him. Sometimes I catch him slapping him a few times to assert his dominance. 😭

I also drew this in a sketchbook for once! Trying to do traditional art again.
